The mainstay of the German air force during
the entirety of WW II, the Bf 109 saw action in practically
every theater of battle. The 109 went through a long series of
modifications and improvements, necessitated in part by they’re
having to operate in extremes from severe Russian winters to
scorching and dusty desert conditions in North Africa.
The model shown was the first I’d built since I was ten years
old. This was an older kit that certainly lacks the finesse and
detail of more contemporary kits, but it was a good opener
considering the lapse between this and my last model which was
built was about 55 years ago. It has been amazing to see the
evolution that has taken place in the hobby during the
intervening decades!
